Responsibilities
Motivate direct reports by clearly defining responsibilities, providing training and development opportunities, and by providing a positive atmosphere for individual and team growth. Practice techniques, behaviors, and interpersonal skills necessary to obtain support and accomplish defined goals. Operate and maintain a 24 hour / day, seven days / week Distribution Grid Management operations center for the Duke Energy Midwest distribution system.
Represent Distribution with various other business units to encourage collaboration and work on special assignments and projects. Evaluate requests for information, reports, additional services, etc. consistent with the vision of the section and make decisions based on resource availability and priority of existing work.
In collaboration with DCC leadership manage and provide oversight for day to day and emergency distribution operations
Oversee automated device support and collaborate with field device provisioning and commissioning activities
Support development, testing and implementation of ADMS Advanced Applications including CLFISR, IVVC, RLS and switch order.
Manage LVM performance to meet regulatory objectives.
Support special projects including TDSIC and SOG by participating in strategy and deployment meetings to ensure deployment targets and benefits are achieved.
Establish procedures and guidelines for switching (planned & emergency) and tagging on the distribution system as performed by Distribution and Transmission personnel and contractors.
Coordinates with peers in other jurisdictions to identify switching and tagging best practices while also standardizing existing manuals into one future enterprise Switching and Tagging manual.
Establish procedures and guidelines to plan, prevent, and address substation loading issues and alarms.
Represent Distribution and the DCC on special projects relating to grid management and outage management for distribution feeders and T / D Substations.
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Distribution portion of the General Load Reduction and System Restoration Plan
Oversee the execution of voltage reduction using the Load Voltage Management System (LVM) functionality in DMS.
Provide subject matter expertise from both an individual and team perspective to
Transmission and Distribution by participating in T&D leadership meetings, discussing strategy, setting direction, exchanging relevant information, and participating in decision making.
Provide support for key T&D objectives (safety, reliability, cost management, customer satisfaction, and employee satisfaction) from both a personal and departmental standpoint
Planning and coordinating with various departments to ensure a state of readiness to preparation for system emergencies, ensuring consistency in standard operating procedures across department / organizational lines, etc.
Oversee the integration of new equipment into the Distribution system including associated clearances, modelling in systems, updated procedures for system operations and appropriate contingency plans for alarms and response.
Meet with project management personnel to plan for integration of new equipment into the Distribution System
Determine potential risks of new equipment and identify contingency plans to reduce risks to operations
Ensure operating procedures are created or updated for Grid and DCC personnel to operate new equipment
Required / Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering
In addition to required degree, ten (10) or more years related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license

Must have knowledge of electrical distribution circuit maps and hierarchy of electrical distribution circuits.
Must have knowledge of distribution system operations including power flow and load analysis, voltage quality, and fault analysis.
Well versed in the operations of computers and database management.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and customer care
Must be knowledgeable of system integration issues.
