Occupational Summary
This position reports to the assistant director of volunteer engagement and will help develop and implement volunteer engagement strategies, including programs that support the recruitment, training, and recognition of volunteers. This position supports the development of volunteer training and education programs and assists with efforts to support staff volunteer managers.
Volunteer Training and Education Programs
- Plan and implement training and education programs for Duke alumni, parent, and donor volunteers.
- Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person volunteer training and educational programs, including volunteer leadership conference(s).
- Produce presentations, handouts, and materials for volunteer trainings.
- Assist with the development of content for the volunteer portion of the alumni.duke.edu website and ensure content is current.
Volunteer Resources
- Develop and produce communications for Duke alumni, parent, and donor volunteers.
- Create volunteer guides and resources to assist volunteers in their roles.
- Create templates for volunteer job descriptions and expectations documents.
- Produce resources for successfully on-boarding and off-boarding volunteers.
- Provide day-to-day management of technology tools used for volunteer training and educational programs.
Data Management
- Effectively use Duke alumni and development data management systems to track engagement metrics and pull alumni contact lists.
- Assist with data management for the AED Volunteer Engagement team. Compile data for reports. Update records in DADD. Upload program attendance. Pull and share lists of alumni. Track metrics for the purpose of data-driven decisions.
Administrative Support and Assistance with Special Projects
- Receive and respond to requests for information and assistance from external constituents, including serving as a primary manager of the AED volunteer engagement general email account.
- Provide administrative support for volunteer engagement team projects and events, as needed. Prepare for and participate in hosting major AED volunteer engagement team events and support other AED programs as requested.
- Work on volunteer engagement initiatives or special projects in coordination with the assistant director of volunteer engagement and as assigned by the senior director of volunteer engagement.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
Experience
Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
