JJOB SUMMARY

Provide high quality clinical care training and education to all members. Work with the Training and EMS Divisions to research, plan, and implement basic and advanced training programs to maintain and raise the knowledge and skill level of medical providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Follow the Mission, Values, and Department Expectations.

· Provide high quality emergent and non-emergent operations training to all DFPD members. Ensure that training is accomplished in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.

· Monitor and evaluate training levels and ensure adequate record keeping.

· Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and administration of a performance-based training and evaluative program for fire-rescue personnel compliant with national and state standards.

· Work under the direction of the Training Chief, in collaboration with the EMS Chief and Medical Director to develop and deliver EMS training.

· Utilize a hands-on approach in the coordination and delivery of EMS training.

· Keep informed on local, state, and national training opportunities to assist in employee and departmental professional development.

· Assist in monitoring certification and training requirements as dictated by Colorado Department of Health and Environment (CDPHE), The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians' (NREMT), and other applicable agencies.

· Create, implement, and deliver training courses.

· Assist with EMS hiring and promotional assessments.

· Develop meaningful and validated evaluation criteria for the training programs provided within the organization and adjust based on a commitment to constantly improve the training administered.

· Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local healthcare training and education partners.

· Assist in management of clinical rotation sites for students, interns, and employees.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

· Knowledge and understanding of adult learning models.

· Knowledge and operation of general office equipment, inclusive of computers, software, and audiovisual equipment.

· Skilled with written and verbal communication within all levels of the organization.

· Strong interpersonal skills applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.

· Ability to organize and prioritize work.

· Ability to communicate and interact with officers and other professionals internally and externally to form mutually beneficial relationships.

· Knowledge and ability to apply training according to current EMS Protocols and standards.

· Knowledge of current trends and research in EMS clinical care to help promote the advancement of a high functioning and progressive EMS program.

· Knowledge of applicable CDHPE rules and state waiver requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)

· Valid driver’s license

· Colorado Paramedic; or Registered Nurse Equivalent or Higher (with pre-hospital EMS experience)

· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

· Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR

Preferred and/or ability to obtain

· ACLS Instructor

· Pediatric Certification Instructor (TBD)

· BLS CPR Instructor

· Colorado EMS Primary Instructor

· Five years of clinical experience with the skills to successfully perform the essential functions.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds move objects.

Complies with the Department’s Wellness and Fitness policies.

This is a 40-hour (regularly M-F) schedule based upon the needs of the department and the members. This will entail a flexible work schedule that can include days, evenings, and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.36 per hour
