The purpose of this position is to coordinate, organize, and facilitate training for the Durham County Staff from professional trainers and collaborate with internal stakeholders and groups.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Physical demands to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the business needs of Durham County.

- Research, analyzes and interprets Federal, State and County policy and procedures to ensure they are being followed.
- Creates training plans that align, inform, and inspire employees in support of strategic goals, and MFR initiatives.
- Communicates clearly and concisely both oral and written for staff programs.
- Assists with quality assurance initiatives to include program structure, forms, and guidelines.
- Designs and implements a variety of developmental initiatives, action plans, programs, and training materials.
- Trains and supervises new employees through the New Hire process. Provides refresher training to existing staff based on agency needs.
- Provides policy as well as system support for new and existing staff.
- Facilitates agency wide compliance and soft skills training (HIPAA, Civil Rights, Security Awareness, etc.)
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Considerable knowledge of principles and techniques of training;
- Considerable knowledge of capabilities and uses of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources;
- Considerable knowledge and experience in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneDrive;
- Ability to organize and coordinate training activities, to evaluate student learning, and to maintain accurate records;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form;
- Ability to work effectively with others and use sound judgment in applying policies, procedures, and training principles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
- Two (2) years of developing and implementing training programs or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
