Are you passionate about supporting the Senior population and making a real difference in their lives? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated part time Driver to join the Point Lookout Senior Community Service Center (SCSC) Program.
Salary: $20/ hour
Schedule: 8:30AM-3:30PM, Monday- Friday
Location: Point Lookout, NY
Reports to: Center Manager
What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Driver is responsible for transporting elderly participants to and from the Point Lookout Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).
What are the key responsibilities:
- Transport participants to and from the Point Lookout SCSC.
- Provide safe transportation by adhering to all safety rules of the road and exercising appropriate driving judgment including checking that all individuals on vehicle are always utilizing seat belts.
- Maintain program vehicle(s), informing Center Manager of any problems. Keep record of vehicle repairs.
- Maintain transportation lists and contact center members to inquire about transportation reservations.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspection prior to each route, maintain proper levels of gasoline, oil, brake fluid, antifreeze and all fluids in program vehicle(s) and keep interior of vehicle(s) clean.
- Maintain daily mileage log.
- Assist with serving of meals, kitchen clean-up, daily activities set up and clean up, assist with answering phones, meet and greet and record center participants attendance.
- Adhere to all policy and procedures set forth in EAC Network’s Personnel Manual and Agency Driver Policy.
- May be required to assist at another EAC Senior Program location during normal working hours.
- Deliver meals to home bound seniors when needed and abide by food preparation regulations and guidelines.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
- Valid NY State Commercial Driver's License, with passenger endorsement with no record of suspensions.
- Must take defensive driving course every 3 years and submit verification.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to read and interpret a map/GPS as necessary.
- Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the elderly.
- Ability to complete all required paperwork necessary to perform work assignments.
- Ability to use computer to complete daily timesheet, request time off and participate in required trainings.
