What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parents as Teachers Parent Educator position at Early Childhood Center?
We are seeking a part-time (20 hrs) Parent Educator for the Parents as Teachers Program for the 2025-26 school year.
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of the Parent Educator is to provide personal instruction, demonstrate appropriate educational activities, deliver research-based printed materials to parents regarding child development, screening, community resources and related issues.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide professional parent instruction and delivery of information to district families, implementing the curriculum provided by Parents as Teachers National Center.
2. Coordinate services with other community programs with similar purposes to support area families.
3. Support and enhance existing Parents as Teachers Program through continuing education.
4. Working at various community events supporting families and young children, making Parents as Teachers visible to the community.
5. Administer yearly assessments on children ages birth to 3 years and referring those in need to agencies specializing in special needs.
6. Support and enhance playgroups, parent group meetings, parent-child field trips, and community events involving Parents as Teachers.
7. Complete, maintain and submit all required program evaluations as requested by Parents as Teachers Coordinator.
8. Complete all required documentation regarding home visits, attendance records for PAT events, screening summaries and other reports.
9. Support and enhance maintenance of the playroom and home visit supplies through disinfecting supplies after each contact.
10. Actively recruit families to participate in the program.
11. Attend required certification training offered through PAT National Center.
12. Participate in monthly staff meetings, providing feedback on how the program is doing and ways to improve it.
13. Ability to successfully build relationships with parents.
14. Acts with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
15. Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, preferred licensed teacher
Child development knowledge
Able to encourage parents
Organize and follow a schedule
Ability to work with diverse population
Ability to organize and maintain paperwork
Experience
Have previously worked with adults and young children
Physical Demands, Working Environment:
Demonstrate composure during stressful times and in crisis situations
Walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time
Squat and sit on the floor
Demonstrate conflict management skills when working with staff and the public
Withstand exposure to inclement weather when necessary
Must be able to travel between and enter homes
Attendance Requirements:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as required by the Board of
Education policies and regulations.

Salary : $15,700 - $25,000
