Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Eligibility Specialist is responsible for carrying out tasks that help determine the eligibility for school readiness programs. This position will provide technical assistance to applicants and child care providers and connect caregivers with resources. This position will also educate families on quality care indicators, varying types of child care providers, and other programs that may be helpful to their family. This role requires patience, empathy, and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY TASKS


  • Enjoy a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Process eligibility applications and referrals with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Provide technical assistance via phone, email, and website chat.
  • Process resource requests, including child care listings.
  • Educate on quality care indicators and care types.
  • Offer information on other programs available to families.

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLSETS

  • Service/Initiative – Assist with implementation of programs and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEREQUIRED

  • An associate degree in social services or related field from an accredited university/college.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service role.

PREFERRED

  • Training and implementation of trauma-informed care, Conscious Discipline, and strengthening families approaches.
  • Experience in determining eligibility in a public assistance program or similar.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative; reasonable accommodations may be made to ensure individuals with disabilities can perform essential functions.
  • Regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hand and arms, climb and/or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to twenty pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds with assistance.
  • Telework will require internet speeds of 4Mpbs download/4Mpbs upload and working in the immediate geographical area.
  • Must have reliable transportation, minimum insurance coverage, and a clean driving record.
  • Will need a reliable mobile phone service for technology compliance requirements (i.e. multifactor authentication).
  • Specific vision abilities may include close vision and the ability to focus for prolonged periods of time.
  • Developmentally appropriate interactions with children may be required in the work environment.
