Essential Functions And Duties
- Lead Financial Operations: Oversee all financial and accounting operations with two direct reports, ensuring our resources are managed effectively to support our commitment to health, sustainability, and community.
- Build Robust Systems: Develop, implement, maintain, and ensure compliance with financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales taxes, and property taxes, reflecting our dedication to transparency and ethical practices.
- Provide Strategic Insights: Deliver status updates on the company’s financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data, guiding strategic decisions that bring healthy, organic options to more communities.
- Forecast for Growth: Prepare short, intermediate, and long-term financial forecasts (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) for internal management and external stakeholders, supporting our expansion and mission.
- Analyze and Optimize: Review monthly results and provide actionable analysis to optimize operations and ensure we continue offering high-quality products at fair prices.
- Manage Commitments: Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments, enabling our growth and allowing us to serve more customers.
- Develop Talent: Hire, train, develop, and appraise accounting staff effectively, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone contributes to our shared goals, taking corrective action as needed in line with company policy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Grocery/retail industry experience strongly preferred, with a deep understanding of the natural and organic foods sector.
- 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 6 years managing direct reports.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting (P&L, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex calculations, formulas, tables).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, mission-driven organization.
- Strong leadership skills to mentor, motivate, train, and lead a team.
