Summary:
EBALDC’s Resource Development and Communications (RDC) Department leads the organization’s efforts to raise nearly a third of EBALDC’s budget (FY 2025: $4M of $14M) and is the organization’s storyteller. RDC is also tasked to raise an additional $20M over the next three years to support EBALDC’s overall operations.
The Development Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the fundraising efforts of our organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, donor management systems, including DonorPerfect and Salesforce grants management, and communications, including social media. This individual will work closely with the development team to ensure that the organization’s fundraising initiatives are effective, efficient, and engaging for our donors and supporters.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Physical Demands:
This job requires simple grasping and fine manipulation, sitting at a desk and using a computer for extended periods of time, moderate use of telephone, walking, bending and reaching. Requires occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Event Planning & Coordination:
- Lead in the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events, including donor receptions, galas, and community outreach events.
- Work closely with vendors, volunteers, and staff to ensure smooth event logistics, from invitations to post-event follow-ups.
- Donor Management & Data Entry:
- Manage and update donor information in DonorPerfect and Salesforce, ensuring accurate and timely records for all donor communications, contributions, and interactions.
- Support the development team with tracking donations, and pledges, and maintaining detailed donor reports for stewardship and cultivation.
- Grants Management:
- Assist in identifying new grant opportunities and maintain a calendar of application and reporting deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation, submittal, and tracking of grant proposals, including reporting on outcomes, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
- Communications & Social Media:
- Support the creation of content for newsletters, fundraising appeals, social media platforms, and marketing materials, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with donors.
- Manage and monitor the organization’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, LinkedIn) to increase visibility and donor engagement.
- Coordinate with the communications team to promote events, campaigns, and organizational updates.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support for the development team, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining department files.
- Assist with donor recognition and stewardship efforts, such as sending thank-you notes, providing tax receipts, and creating donor recognition materials.
- Assist the VP of RDC with invoices, receipts, scheduling meetings, etc)
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit development or fundraising.
- Strong background in event planning.
- Proven experience with donor management software such as DonorPerfect and Salesforce.
- Experience with website software including WordPress
- Familiarity with communications platforms including Constant Contact
- Familiarity with accounting software such as Yardi.
- Experience with communications, including social media content creation and management.
- Skills:
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
- Experience with social media platforms and tools (Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
