General Position Summary:
The Production Manager is a member of the management team responsible for strategic fabrication operations. This position oversees the supervision of all areas of Fabrication in the facility. This position also directs activities so that approved products are manufactured on-schedule within safety, quality, and cost objectives being managed appropriately.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Consistently pursue the implementation of a safety culture that values all direct and indirect reports to always work safely along with looking out for others around them to do the same.
Lead, guide, and direct all direct reports in developing and maintaining characteristics consistent with the concepts of continuous improvement.
Assist other staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
Implement the work plan on all fabrication projects established by the senior management team.
Monitor and report on production status as well as develop and manage production schedules.
Coordinate efforts to maintain flow by working with Logistics, Material Handling, QA, and Project Management and Field team. Also work with these groups and follow though to ensure effective countermeasures are being established when problems occur consistently utilizing the DIR system.
Develop systems to track, monitor, and improve processes in all production practices including but not limited to: safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
Act as liaison between subordinate levels and senior management to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies, and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
Hire, train, direct and evaluate production staff. Establish and communicate performance expectations and take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of policies with regards to safety, continuous improvement strategies, production standards, manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and overall production performance.
Secondary Functions:
Initiate and coordinate special projects as needed. (i.e. facility changes, installation of capital equipment.)
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervise the production team to include fabrication and paint activities. This position maintains high-level responsibility for 40 production employees and the ability to manage up to 60 employees on multiple shifts as we grow.
Physically train, move and lift parts around facility, inspect the work of Production Personnel, and ensure each employee has what they need in order to accomplish their daily objectives.

A thorough understanding of the materials, equipment, documentation, blue print reading, and processes required to build the product.

Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) tools.
Knowledge of regulations and rules in a manner that affects the process of manufacturing positively.

Computer Skills – Understanding of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Business discipline or related field or the equivalent progressive experience in marine and/or steel fabrication environments
CWI and OSHA 30 preferred
8-10 years experience in heavy manufacturing of steel, commercial construction or heavy steel fabrication environment; marine experience a plus
3-5 years managerial experience preferred
Job Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a wide variety of environments including heights of 10 feet or more, small and/or confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather conditions. This individual will routinely need to bend, twist, kneel, walk, climb, lift up to 50 lbs, and reach throughout the day. Will stand/walk for 6-10 hours per day. Will endure noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather as majority of each work days is requirement to be performed in the facility and outside of it.
