Unified Basketball Assistant Coach for East Greenwich High School
About the Position:
East Greenwich High School is seeking two passionate and dedicated individuals to serve as the Unified Basketball Head and Assistant Coaches. Unified sports joins student-athletes with intellectual disabilities and typically-abled partners on the same team, promoting inclusion, camaraderie, and mutual respect. The ideal candidate will inspire athletes to develop their skills, build relationships, and proudly represent our school.
Responsibilities:
Plan and lead team practices, skill development sessions, and game strategies.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and an inclusive environment for all athletes.
Ensure compliance with all league rules, safety protocols, and school policies.
Collaborate with school staff, families, and support personnel to provide a meaningful experience for all participants.
Coordinate team logistics, including practice schedules, transportation, and equipment needs.
Serve as a mentor and role model for all team members.
Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students and staff.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive environment.
Completion of all state and school-required coaching certifications.
NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching (completed only once)
NFHS Protecting Students from Abuse (completed only once)
NFHS Concussion in Sports (completed annually)
NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest (completed annually)
Rules Compliance (completed annually)
Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (completed biannually)
Schedule:
Practices and games will occur after school hours and may include some evenings or weekends.
