The Community Services Instructor is responsible for providing direct care to individuals participating in services and supports as outlined in a daily schedule. Support given will follow specific goals and objectives of each individual served. Will actively engage with individuals in programming as outlined in the personal plan, in either a group setting or alone. Ensures individuals served are safe and healthy.
Core Functions
- Implement and evaluate Individualized Service Plan outcomes and objectives for specific individuals.
- Provide support and supervision to assigned individuals/groups while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
- Uses individualized techniques to promote community inclusion and teach everyday living skills to those supported.
- Participate as a team member in mandatory staff meetings.
- Participate and contribute to department and agency as an active team member.
- Maintain professional relationship with individuals, families, community members, and staff.
- Represents self and agency in a professional manner while in the community.
- Maintains accurate daily and monthly paperwork and meets submission deadlines for paperwork.
- Must be flexible, reliable, dependable and have the ability to multitask. This position is days, evenings and weekends with an ever changing schedule from week to week.
- Must be able to manage and embrace change.
- Must be able to provide excellent customer service.
- Able to meet competency with all required agency trainings.
- Must be consistently at work and on time.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required. College credit in human service or related field desirable.
Experience: Some experience in providing direct support to individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavior disorders preferred.
Specific Skills: Must have valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance. Maintains safe driving record. Must have clean, reliable, working vehicle with enough fuel to meet transportation needs. Must be willing to use personal vehicle for transportation if needed. Must have the ability to do basic math and have legible handwriting and professional grammar skills.
