Position Description
Job Title: Program Assistant
Department: Adult Services Center
Reports to: Program Director
Work Hours: 8:15 am - 4:30 pm
Workdays - Monday to Friday and some Saturdays
Job Summary: The Program Assistant is an integral member of the team. This position is responsible for three main areas within the center: Program Services, Group Facilitation, and Care Plan Management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Program Services:
- Assist staff and participants in all aspects of program activities
- Work with other staff to share ideas, seek assistance, and implement programs.
- Follow occupational therapist and nursing guidance while assisting participants.
- Provide assistance to participants when standing, walking or transferring.
- Maintain participant dignity and self-respect
- Maintain safe, sanitary, and organized environment.
2) Group Facilitation:
- Design and schedule meaningful and appropriate group activities.
- Supervise and facilitate activities to include games, crafts, reading and music.
- Lead and encourage participants in prescribed exercise programs
- Develop alternate activities addressing participant needs.
- Ensure each participant gains something from activities.
3) Care Plan Management:
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for protected health information and participant privacy.
- Follow established protocols for assigned participant care plans.
- Write individualized, legible, and accurate care plan progress notes.
- Participate in care plan development and review meetings
4) General Services:
- Assist with lunch service and clean-up
- Perform set-up, closing and activity clean-up duties
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned
SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
A. A high school graduate or the equivalent
B. At least 18 years of age
C. Prior experience working in health care, aging services, and/or services for people with disabilities (six months minimum).
D. Must have proof of U.S. citizenship or right to work.
E. Flexible schedule of availability.
F. Must complete/obtain and maintain current trainings, certifications, and testing as required according to the WAC; including but not limited to CPR/First Aid certification, initial 2-step TB Test prior to start date, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Food Handler’s Permit within 30 days of hire.
G. Must pass Washington State DSHS background check (and federal background check if applicable) and maintain background check compliance

**Paid Sick Time: Full-time staff receive 96 hours annually; Part-time/Temporary staff accrue 1 hour/40 hours worked with a limit of 56 hours.
