Location: Torrington, CT


Reports to: Director Development, Marketing, Communications


GENERAL DESCRIPTION: ECAD’s Development Associate I is dedicated, socially conscious and eager to assist the organization’s development team in creating and implementing strategies that will ensure sustainability and organizational growth. She/he is an energetic, amicable, and highly organized individual who enjoys a fast-paced, highly demanding working environment. This position provides the operational and logistical backbone of the Development Department and supports efforts to maintain the donor database (Salesforce), implement donor stewardship and more. The Development Associate I position assists the organization in improving business opportunities, strengthening relationships with constituents, streamlining development processes, encouraging growth, researching and identifying new funding opportunities, and promoting the organization’s mission and values to external stakeholders. This individual will work independently as well as a part of various teams. She/he is a professional in their own right, and is excited to take on the challenge of robust fundraising initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to

● Support and improve fundraising efforts

● Coordination and execution of high volume donor telephone campaigns

● Manage and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the donor database including contact information, relationships, correspondents, and interactions

● Generate donor reports, mailing lists for appeals, events and donor communications

● Perform wealth screening and generate prospect lists

● Organize and Manage online and in person events

● Prepare, support and manage, if needed in house mailings; coordinating volunteers as needed.

● Prepare marketing kits, presentations, and grant proposals as needed.

● Assist in appeal creations, i.e. writing appeals, thank you letters, donation pages, emails, etc.

● Track communications and outstanding pledges

● Build, Maintain and execute donor stewardship campaigns as needed

● Support website maintenance and content development

● Supports the director by screening and returning calls, filing, email management and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

● Preferred bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, fundraising, nonprofit, or business PLUS 2 years working for a nonprofit

● Demonstrated experience in database (salesforce) management, with desire to learn new systems.

● Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills. Above average oral communication skills are a MUST as the position dictates a high volume of call activity.

● Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team.

● Demonstrated ability to problem solve

● Demonstrated history of completing projects with the utmost accuracy.

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to be a multi-tasker who is detail oriented and able to competing meet deadlines

● Typing skills of at least 50 WPM.

● Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint) with emphasis on Excel functions, formulas and processes.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, fundraising, nonprofit, or business preferred PLUS 2 years working for a nonprofit

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively present information to management in a prescribed style and format. Ability to respond in writing to situations and prepare reports to be presented to management or others as required by management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to hold objects, and is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
