Development and Communications Associate
Reports to: CEO and Director of Development & Communications
Department: Development & Communications FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade:$24.00/hour.
Provisional Period: 12 months
Position Summary:
As a member of YWCA New Britain, and the Development & Communications team, this position is an integral participant in furthering the mission of the YWCA. The individual in this position, in collaboration with the Director of Development & Communications, will plan and implement internal and external communications, marketing, and fundraising strategies to meet the stated goals of the association including all aspects of fundraising, special event coordination, donor stewardship programs, and marketing and communications initiatives.
Essential Functions & Performance Standards:
- Support the planning and execution of annual events, fundraisers, stewardship events, and meetings.
- Manage data entry of gifts, donor information, prepare reports and information requests from the CEO and Director of Development & Communications.
- Responsibilities include managing event timelines, registration, sponsor outreach, exhibitor outreach, securing 3rd party vendors, in-kind donations, marketing, and communications support.
- Develop and execute social media posts
- Maintain office supply inventory, placing orders as needed.
- Support the work of the CEO and Board of Directors by attending virtually or in-person meetings and prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and manage technology for presentations/meetings.
- Develop timely, clear, and compelling written content and design for website, social media, newsletters, flyers, advertisements, profiles and stories, annual report, and other communications, as needed, to promote YWCA.
- Increase awareness and visibility of YWCA New Britain to target populations and develop and execute marketing strategies that support the organization’s vision and culture.
- Develop relationships with individuals and businesses, sponsors, partners, and members within the community.
- Attend staff, personnel, and professional development meetings as assigned.
- Reliably meet deadlines.

- Follow legal and ethical standards related to job responsibilities.

Work Environment:
This position operates in settings which could include office, working outdoors in heat or cold, among other settings and conditions not specifically described.
Physical Demands/Hazards/Travel:
- Must be able to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus; must be able to carry 10-20lbs; must be able to adapt to computer systems.
- Travel requirements: Occasional local travel.
Qualifications Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; or commensurate years of experience
- Experience: 1-3 years
- Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Proficiency with computer technology: Microsoft Office Suites, Zoom or Teams, Constant Contact preferred
- Proficient with social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram
- Ability to work individually and as a team.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and initiative.
