ECOLE BILINGUE DE LA NOUVELLE-ORLÉANS, founded in 1998, welcome over 400 students from 18 months to 8th grade. The school is accredited by the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger (AEFE) and belongs to the Mission Laïque Française (MLF), the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) networks of schools, and the Independent School Association of the Southwest (ISAS).


Job Title: Bookkeeper


Overview: The Bookkeeper plays a crucial role in managing the school’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborating with administrative staff, this individual will oversee financial transactions, maintain financial records, communicate with parents and support the school’s leadership team in financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions, including recording transactions, credit card administration, and reconciling bank statements.

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.

  • Utilizing accounting software and various systems to streamline data entry and ensure timeliness and accuracy. 

  • Identify discrepancies in accounts or between systems, tracking them to the source and correcting them.

  • Support month end and year end closing processes by preparing necessary documentation. 

  • Prepare financial reports, statements, and summaries as needed for department heads, executive team and Board of Trustees and aid in the budgeting process for the same.

Compliance & Record-Keeping

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, accounting standards, and state/federal regulations.

  • Prepare and retain records, files, and reports in compliance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines, including W-9s and 1099s

  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reconciliation reports.

Vendor & Customer Relations

  • Communicate with vendors, parents, staff and groups of the same regarding billing, payments, and financial inquiries.

  • Assist with resolving billing discrepancies and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

Employee Relations

  • Assist with payroll preparation, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees and in responding to any questions. 

  • Assist with managing health insurance benefits programs for employees, including ensuring data processing within the payroll system, change management, and review of invoices.

Qualifications & Skills: 
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other billing software.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a nonprofit or educational institution.

  • Familiarity with fund accounting and school tuition management systems.

  • Experience with implementing new technologies/systems. 

  • Bilingual in French and English (a plus but not required).

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary is commensurate with experience

  • Benefits include health insurance, 401k, tuition remission, paid school holidays, three week paid vacation
