What you’ll do!

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Bilingual College Planning Specialist to assist students, parents, and adults with career exploration, college research, and navigating the financial aid process, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The ideal candidate will be an engaging communicator with a strong ability to positively impact student achievement and professional development and a deep commitment to improving access to higher education in Nebraska.

As a Bilingual College Planning Specialist, your day will vary. At times, you’ll be preparing financial aid, admissions, and student loan applications. Other times, you’ll help resolve challenges, guide students through the college and career search process, and answer questions about financial aid and college admissions. Your services will primarily be provided to high schools and community-based agencies, with occasional support to middle schools. Additionally, you’ll work closely with professional partners, including high school counselors, community agency staff, administrators, educators, and college admissions and financial aid professionals.

What you’ll need!

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; two years of related experience and/or training in college admissions, financial aid, school counseling, or the student loan industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs, college admissions, and financial aid procedures is desirable.
  • Familiarity with college admissions and entrance procedures is beneficial.
  • Proven ability to interpret procedure manuals or federal regulations, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, with experience in project management and data analysis.
  • Effectively present information to both large and small groups in virtual, in-person, and one-on-one settings.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and occasional overnight travel required.
  • The position is located in our Kearney College Planning Office.
  • Ability to provide personal transportation and maintain automotive insurance.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
