El Futuro is currently hiring a full-time Bilingual Community Mental Health Program Manager to lead the implementation and ongoing operations of the Mentes Fuertes (Strong Minds, Strong Communities) Program, which provides vital mental health support to the Latino community across multiple counties in North Carolina through the expertise of trained Community Mental Health Workers. The ideal candidate has experience managing programs, supervising staff, fostering relationships, managing budgets and deliverables, and representing programs effectively to funders and community stakeholders.


This position works a regular schedule of 37.5 hours per week; in-person, based out of either the Durham or Siler City clinic and travels one time per week to program sites in Durham, Wake, Orange, Harnett, or Johnston County; with occasional travel to Mecklenburg or Cumberland Counties, and surrounding areas. Schedule includes flexibility to work evenings and weekends. There is the possibility of occasional remote work. Must be available for Friday morning meetings 9:00-11:00am (mostly virtual).


The annual salary for this position starts at $60,000.00, based on experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Community Mental Health Program Manager performs a wide range of functions including, but not limited to the following:


Program Management Functions:

  • Manage the Mentes Fuertes program, ensure alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and community needs.
  • Oversee program deliverables, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Prepare and manage program budgets, ensure compliance with funder requirements and organizational policies.
  • Represent El Futuro and the Mentes Fuertes program at funder meetings, stakeholder events, and community engagement events.
  • Coordinate weekly site visits to program locations, ensuring consistent engagement and support for field staff. 
  • Host and facilitate meetings with funders, stakeholders, and community partners. 
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Supervision and Staff Support Functions:

  • Provide direct supervision to Community Mental Health Workers, Outreach Leads, and Schedulers.
  • Provide ongoing, regular feedback and evaluation to supervisees on the quality and timeliness of their work and caseload, make suggestions and recommendations; solicit feedback from supervisees regarding supervision and whether their needs are being met.
  • Ensure that supervisees comply with all El Futuro, state, and federal policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure that supervisees comply with all legal and ethical practices.
  • Provide administrative oversight; support and training to assist supervisees in meeting program goals, record keeping and documentation standards, and quality assurance standards.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders.

 

Community Engagement Functions:

  • Coordinate weekly site visits to program locations, ensure consistent engagement and support for field staff. 
  • Host and facilitate meetings with funders, stakeholders, and community partners. 
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF EL FUTURO STAFF:

  • Participate in meetings and organizational related activities as directed by the supervisor, which may include All Staff Meeting, Individual Supervision, participation on a committee, or other activities.
  • Play an active role in the continued development of El Futuro’s work via participation in fundraising and other agency-wide activities.
  • Engage in learning opportunities through “La Mesita”, El Futuro’s training platform and network of bilingual providers in North Carolina, or through other appropriate career development opportunities.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field; OR equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in community-based or mental health programs.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing budgets, deliverables, and program outcomes.
  • Experience in relationship building with diverse stakeholders and community organizations.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Required: Fluency in spoken Spanish. Must also be able to read and communicate with clients in written Spanish. Must be able to document clinical encounters in English.
  • Demonstrated skills in program or project management.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities while affording attention to detail and organization.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to travel one day per week to program sites across multiple counties in North Carolina.

  • In-person role based in Durham or Siler City clinic, with occasional remote work.

  • Work schedule includes availability to work evenings and weekends to support program staff.
