What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Specialist position at Elkhorn Area School District?
The Elkhorn Area School District is now accepting applications for a Network Specialist to start July 1, 2025. Under the direction of the Technology Supervisor, the Network Specialist will provide technical & networking support services for district staff and students in all areas of technology.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical support for District-wide technology in both hardware and software.
- Maintain an accurate hardware/software inventory list of district assets.
- Prioritize requests according to status and/or importance in an effort to avoid a loss of teaching or working productivity.
- Maintain a reliable and secure technical environment that will enhance the teaching/learning experience. Systems including but not limited to: Active Directory, Microsoft MECP Server, Scripting with PowerShell and Google, LDAP Integration, SQL, Manage Meraki Network Equipment including Firewalls, Switch Infrastructure, and Access Points, and proactively monitor cybersecurity reports and ensure patches and updates are applied in a timely manner.
- Continually learn new products and services related to educational institutions.
- Provide instruction to staff in areas of technology as needed or requested.
- Maintain a positive working environment and good relations with staff and coworkers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Working knowledge of network concepts: Active Directory, Group Policy, LDAP, MECP Server, SQL.
- Understanding of Server Roles and Management such as IIS, NPS, CA and VAT services.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively, both oral and written.
- Two year Technical College Degree associated with computers or equivalent work experience providing PC and user tech support.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, squat, crawl, occasionally required to climb a ladder, and occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move objects up to 50 pounds or more.Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with the Elkhorn Area School District will be subject to a background check, physical and tuberculosis test, and illicit drug screening test.
