Youth Mentor Position at New Haven
Are you passionate about helping adolescent girls reach their full potential? Do you have a background in psychology, behavioral science, social work, or a related field? If so, New Haven offers an exciting and meaningful opportunity for you!
New Haven is a residential treatment center for adolescents aged 14-18, located in Spanish Fork and Saratoga Springs, Utah. We provide a supportive environment where we combine treatment with academics to help young people overcome challenges such as trauma, family issues, and mental health concerns.
About the Role:
As a Youth Mentor, you'll play an important role in supporting and guiding the girls in our care. This isn’t just about supervising – it’s about building relationships and making a positive impact in their lives. You’ll spend your time with students in various activities like cultural outings, cooking, and outdoor adventures, all while ensuring their safety and promoting personal growth.
Work Schedule:
Youth Mentors are required to work at least 24 hours per week, including two Sundays each month. You can also work up to 30 hours a week if you choose. On-Call Youth Mentors have a more flexible schedule and can choose shifts that fit their availability while still meeting the 24-hour requirement.
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm
Responsibilities
- Minor Food Prep: Contribute to meal preparation while promoting healthy eating habits.
- Group Participation: Attend and engage in group sessions with students, fostering a sense of community.
- Safety First: Maintain a safe environment, ensuring the well-being of our students.
- Boundary Maintenance: Uphold professional boundaries while building trust and rapport.
- Therapeutic Support: Collaborate with therapists to implement interventions aligned with each teen's treatment plan.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 21 years old or older
- Current driver's license and a good driving record
- Ability to pass a Utah State background check
- Must be willing to make a 8-month minimum commitment
- Willing to get Food Handlers Permit before first day of work
