To be a successful TDM Facilitator you must become able to do the following always:
- Ensure a trauma informed focus on creating a safe and supportive environment for staff and those served through knowledge, sensitivity, respect, and a focus on resilience and recovery.
- Guide meeting participants through a structured, six-stage process that includes discussion of concerns, identification of strengths, and development of ideas and seek consensus regarding the least restrictive, best possible placement-related decision.
- Model professional interactions and respectfully lead diverse groups toward resolution in an emotionally charged environment.
- Be detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Have excellent customer service skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Document meeting outcomes and provide timely documentation of meetings.
- Ability to solve problems, while also having the ability to ask questions
- Ability to maintain neutrality while facilitating meetings
- Ability to manage emotions, make decisions under pressure and use discretion in decision making.
- Effectively work alone and with team members
- Provide regular feedback to leadership and be an advocate for system improvements that support best practice and policy development.
