As we scale, we are strengthening our accounting and finance functions to support growth, enhance financial controls, and improve operational efficiency. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant – Revenue to play a key role in revenue accounting, financial reporting, and process improvements.
Job Summary
This position will focus on revenue accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank account management, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. The Senior Accountant will also support external audits, general ledger transitions, and process improvements to enhance our accounting landscape.
Job Location: Hybrid in Cleveland, OH
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage revenue accounting, including premium & resulting commission revenue recognition and related journal entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support the general ledger transition, helping migrate and map accounts as we upgrade financial systems.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance revenue reporting, cash application processes, and internal controls.
- Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors in annual financial statement audits.
- Identify and drive process improvements, leveraging automation and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant accounting standards.
- Partner with key external business partners to ensure reporting & controls are established and updated as the business changes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred).
- 3–6 years of accounting experience, preferably in insurance, financial services, or a PE-backed company.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition (ASC 606), balance sheet reconciliation, and cash management.
- Experience with general ledger systems and participating in system implementations or upgrades.
- Audit experience (public or private) is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Office D 365, Great Plains, NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
