POSITION PROFILE :
Our client seeks an experienced Heavy Highway Concrete Estimator to join their estimating team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for concrete-related projects within the heavy highway construction sector. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of concrete paving operations, construction methods, materials, and labor requirements specific to highway projects. The estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive estimates, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for concrete work in heavy highway construction projects, including paving, flatwork, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and more.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to assess project requirements, scope, and materials.
- Conduct material takeoffs and determine quantities for concrete, reinforcement, and related materials.
- Research and obtain quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors for materials and services.
- Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing on bid day.
- Develop and present bid proposals, detailing labor, materials, and equipment costs for review and analysis.
- Evaluate project risks and potential cost-saving measures to ensure competitive, accurate pricing.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and concrete technologies relevant to heavy highway construction.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations to gather essential project data.
- Submit bids and budgets on time with no exceptions, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and historical data to refine future estimating processes.
- Monitor awarded projects to compare estimated costs with actual performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Award subcontracts in a timely manner to meet project schedules and ensure all scope items are covered.
