What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Director position at Emma Norton Services?
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Finance Director to oversee and implement all general accounting, billing, budgeting and audit related functions to ensure sound fiscal management of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial planning with government grants and contracts.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares month end close and dashboard for finance committee.
- Reviews and oversees all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and backup to payroll related functions.
- Tracks recepit and expenditure of government contracts and grants and prepares required billing for reimbursements and reporting.
- Maintains all financial records including general ledger, journal entries, and depreciation schedules.
- With the HR manager, provides internal control for payroll.
- Maintaints an account system, cost center structure, and chart of accounts to meet agency needs.
- Monitors bank account balances and cash flow.
- Prepares needed financial reports such as income and expense statements and balance sheets for the board, finance committee, other committees and outside agencies as required.
- Submits necessary documentation for the annual audit; schedules and coordinates all activities of the audit with the audit team.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred, and 3 years of experience with increasing responsibility for accounting and finance functions, preferably in a nonprofit human services setting.
2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and QuickBooks online
3. Knowledgeable about requirements of GAAP, applicable laws, rules and policies.
4. Experience with financial planning and analysis with government grants and contracts.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate financial information to non-finance staff and board members.
6. Detail oriented with the ability to set priorities and work on own initiative.
