This is an exciting entry-level position with plenty of room for growth and advancement as you gain experience and prove your skills. If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is highly organized, and has a strong work ethic, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You’ll be part of a dedicated estimating team that works on diverse and challenging projects, and your contributions will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our project bids.

While prior construction experience is a plus, it’s not required. What we’re really looking for is someone who is self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn. This position will challenge you, but it will also give you the opportunity to grow and advance as quickly as you can learn. If you have strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities :

As an Assistant Estimator, you will provide essential support to our Estimating Department by assisting with the preparation of cost estimates, bids, and project tracking. The role will involve a combination of administrative tasks, data entry, research, and direct communication with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Key duties include :

Assist in Cost Estimation :

Support senior estimators by helping to prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project drawings, specifications, and other documents.

  • Analyze project plans to identify key project needs and offer cost-effective solutions.
  • Gather quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, helping to ensure that all components of the estimate are competitive and accurate.

Bid Preparation Support :

Assist in the preparation of bid packages, including reviewing bid documents, preparing detailed take-offs, and ensuring that all required components are included in the bid.

  • Help analyze incoming bids to make sure they are complete, accurate, and competitive.
  • Project Data Management :

Maintain organized records of cost estimates, project plans, and other related documents using software tools like Microsoft Excel and OneDrive.

  • Assist in managing cost tracking, and make sure that all records are kept up-to-date.
  • Use Microsoft Excel to input, update, and manage project-related data and financial information.
  • Communication and Collaboration :

Communicate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other team members to clarify project details and ensure that the estimates reflect the true project scope.

  • Attend project meetings and assist with coordinating the flow of information between the estimating team and other departments.
  • Develop strong people skills by building relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and open communication.
  • Efficiency and Organization :

Ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and that deadlines are met.

  • Stay organized by maintaining a clear system for tracking projects and ensuring that all required documentation is readily available.
  • You’ll be expected to take ownership of your work, managing multiple tasks at once while staying focused and organized.
  • Continuous Learning and Development :

Be proactive in learning from senior estimators and other team members.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, software tools, and new construction technologies to continually improve estimating processes and efficiency.
