What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometrist position at Employee Benefits Fund?
Job Summary:
- Tests patient's general eye health and level of vision
- Screens for disease affecting the eye
- Ascertains whether patient needs corrective lenses or other types of corrective eye wear
- Will be working out of our Midtown and Queens locations
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseased and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness
- Analyze test results
- Develop plan of treatment/care for the patient that also includes education and follow-up visits
- Prescribe medications/eyeglasses to treat eye disease and make referrals, as indicated by the needs of the patient
- Communicates with Ophthalmologist and other health care providers related to diagnosis, treatment and plan for the patient either verbally and/or through documentation in the medical record
- Maintains current and complete documentation in the medical record that reflects the care and services provided to the patient
- Adheres to the center's established policies and procedures
- Expected to travel to our Midtown and Queens locations
Education and Experience:
- Current License as an O.D. In New York State
- Meets all of the requirements for appointment/reappointment as a member of the medical staff
- Current CPR Certification
