JOB DESCRIPTION
The Pre-Roll Team Lead, employed by HR MGMT 10 LLC as the Employer of Record, will work on-site at one of our brand partners' cannabis production facilities. This role is responsible for leading a team in the multi-step production and packaging process of cannabis pre-rolls, including joint filling, capping, kiefing, packaging, and quality control. The Pre-Roll Team Lead ensures that all activities meet the brand partner’s quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Working closely with the Pre-Roll Supervisor, the Team Lead will manage daily operations, optimize production efficiency, and maintain compliance with state and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in cannabis production or a similar regulated industry, strong leadership skills, and a focus on quality and process improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Production and Packaging Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of pre-roll production staff across various stages: joint filling, capping, kiefing, packaging, and quality control, ensuring adherence to the brand partner’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
- Assist in developing and implementing production schedules for each stage of the pre-roll process to meet daily and weekly output targets while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Monitor workflows across all pre-roll stages, provide guidance to team members, and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Conduct daily team meetings to communicate production goals, safety updates, and any changes to SOPs or regulatory requirements specific to joint filling, capping, kiefing, packaging, and quality control.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all activities in the pre-roll department, including joint filling, capping, kiefing, and packaging, comply with state and local cannabis regulations and the brand partner’s quality standards.
- Conduct routine quality checks throughout the production and packaging process to ensure consistency, proper weight, appearance, kief application, and labeling.
- Maintain accurate records of production and packaging activities, including batch records, equipment logs, and quality control checks, as directed by the Pre-Roll Supervisor.
- Assist in preparing for internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation and practices align with regulatory and brand partner requirements.
Training and Development:
- Train and mentor staff on specific SOPs for each stage of the pre-roll process, safety protocols, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality.
- Provide feedback to team members on performance and assist in identifying opportunities for skill development and growth in specialized tasks like joint filling, capping, and kiefing.
- Promote a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the Pre-Roll Supervisor and Quality Assurance team to identify areas for process improvement and implement effective solutions specific to each stage of pre-roll production.
- Support initiatives to enhance processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency in joint filling, capping, kiefing, packaging, and quality control.
Safety and Hazard Management:
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire safety protocols, and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and drills to maintain a safe working environment for all production and packaging staff.
Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with the Pre-Roll Supervisor, inventory teams, and other departments to ensure adequate supply of raw materials, cones, kief, and packaging materials for each stage of production.
- Provide regular updates to the Pre-Roll Supervisor on production metrics, team performance, and any issues affecting production flow across different stages.
- Address production-related questions or concerns from team members and other departments, providing guidance and support as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or certification in manufacturing, operations management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a production or packaging role, preferably within the cannabis, food and beverage, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Strong understanding of pre-roll production processes, including joint filling, capping, kiefing, packaging, and quality control, as well as regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in production management software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required state-specific certifications for cannabis production and packaging.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks typical of a production and packaging environment.
