We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Wichita, KS. This role is responsible for investment securities accounting, financial reporting, general ledger reconciling, and external reporting.

Essential functions of the role:
Investment Securities Accounting
- Record investment security principal and interest transactions received from safekeepers
- Monitor public fund balances and ensure adequate pledging is maintained
- Communicate with public fund customers concerning bond pledging
- Maintain accurate records for safekeeping and pledging of securities
- Complete investment security Board and roll forward reports monthly
Financial Reporting
- Prepare peer bank comparison quarterly reports
- Research and summarize end of month income and expense fluctuations
- Participate in preparation of Financial Management Committee meeting packet
- Represent Finance Department on companywide Spec Change Committee
- Assigned to company projects as the Finance subject matter expert
Reconciling
- Reconcile cash advance activity and other internal use demand deposit accounts daily
- Communicate with retail branches concerning reconciliation issues
- Backup Federal Reserve Bank account reconciler, including all customer wire and ACH activity
- Oversee prepaid asset invoices and determine amortization schedule monthly
- Complete reconciling for an Emprise Embedded partner and communicate issues to the team
External Reporting
- Submit and monitor monthly collateral reporting to the Federal Reserve
- Submit loan collateral reporting quarterly to the FHLBank for the Bank’s line of credit
- Complete FDIC Bank Call report quarterly including detail balance sheet and income statement schedules
- Prepare detailed supporting workpapers that confirm reported amounts
- Submit various government surveys
Other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility of the job
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline, or level of education that, together with industry experience, enables the applicant to meet the job requirements
- 1-2 years of Banking and/or Accounting experience preferred
- Proficiency with large server-based applications and typical desktop software including Excel
