Job Summary
“The Unit Facilitator / Trauma PI Coordinator, who functions in clinical, educational, research, administrative and quality improvement, is a nursing professional care provider under the direction of the Emergency Department Director or designee who utilizes the nursing process, nursing standards and physicians orders to plan, provide, and direct nursing practice. Accomplishment of nursing practice that includes practice elements as defined by the Kentucky Board of Nursing and in accordance with the Ephraim McDowell Health nursing professional practice model. The Unit Facilitator / Trauma PI Coordinator works in collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager and is responsible for abstracting, monitoring, inputting, and coordinating trauma data to ensure quality care for all trauma patients. The Unit Facilitator / Trauma PI Coordinator facilitates the trauma program requirements and goals necessary through identification of concerns, finding solutions, and collaborating to affect change. The Unit Facilitator / Trauma PI Coordinator will assist the Trauma Program Manager to ensure compliance standards are met as they relate to performance improvement through data collection, analysis, trending, and benchmarking data and outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: BSN required.
Experience: 3 years of Emergency Department experience required, 5 years preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
Current license in the state of Kentucky. Basic Life Support certification (successful completion within three [3] months of employment), ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC/NIHSS/Non Violent Crisis Intervention (successful completion within one [1] year from hire or requirement date). Annual Trauma, Stroke, and Cardiac Education required (provided on site).
If ACLS or PALS is expired, will only be able to care for non-critical patients. If TNCC or ENPC is expired, will not be able to participate in the trauma team.
