EMT & CPR Instructors Needed - EMS University (EMSU) is looking for in-person instructors to teach initial EMT classes, Online EMT and/or Paramedic Refreshers, & CPR/BFA classes with our program in San Antonio.
NOTE: THIS IS PART-TIME minimum 1-2 shifts per month, on-site position, pick-up style.
EMT/CPR Instructor Job Description
Purpose
The instructor's job is to ensure that as many students successfully complete their course as is possible while at the same time strictly adhering to policy, guidelines, and regulations. The instructor is an integral part of the EMSU team and responsible for ensuring student success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures efficiency and strict adherence to the daily schedule.
- Prepares and carries out lesson plans and other student activities.
- Teaches students using a variety of techniques including, but not limited to didactic lecture, practical demonstration, monitoring of group activities as well as evaluation;
- Collects, reviews, and assesses student work.
- Coordinates activities with other personnel to ensure student success.
- Finds, evaluates, and addresses deficiencies which may occur during class.
- Evaluates student performance during the course on a continual basis.
- Ensures proper compliance with state and national guidelines/regulations relating to examination procedures.
- Keeps information confidential as per guidelines.
- Attendance of regular and/or special instructor meetings/training.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least three (3) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years.
And One of the following:
- Current TX State EMT Certification
- Current TX State Paramedic Certification
*To become an instructor with us, an EMS Instructional Strategies Course Certificate (40hrs minimum) or equivalent is required. If an equivalent certification has not already been obtained, we are fortunate to offer this course certification free for all new hire instructor positions.
Preferred Criterion (Not Required)
Teaching experience is preferred
Bachelor's Degree
NREMT Certification
Skills
- Clear, legible handwriting.
- A thorough understanding of EMS training equipment.
- A thorough understanding of prehospital care. (Emergency/non-emergency)
- A basic understanding of technology (for scheduling, attendance, communication, etc.)
Experience
One of the following:
- 3 Years of Experience as an EMT
- 3 Years of Experience as an Advanced EMT
- 3 Years of Experience as a Paramedic

Instructor Compensation: ($22.00-$30.00/hour); Job Dependent/DOE
