Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Mentor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting young individuals, particularly those with special needs, by fostering their development and well-being. This position requires a commitment to providing direct support and care, while also promoting positive social interactions and personal growth.
This position is located in Watertown and would involve caring for 2 children, there will be a mix of 1-1 time and time where staff care for both children. The provider to work both at the children's home and do some community based activities. People with behavioral experience are encouraged to apply!
Duties
- Provide direct support to youth in various settings, including home and community.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs of each youth, focusing on behavioral health and social skills development.
- Engage in data collection to monitor progress and inform adjustments to care strategies.
- Facilitate communication between youth and their families, ensuring that all parties are informed and involved in the care process.
- Support youth with autism by employing specialized techniques that promote engagement and understanding.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and educators, to create a supportive network for each youth.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to caregiving and special education.
Qualifications
- Experience or education in special education, social work, or related fields is preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral health practices and techniques for working with youth with diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with youth effectively.
- Familiarity with data collection methods for tracking progress in behavioral interventions.
- Experience in home community care settings is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to work independently when necessary.
