Job Title: Project Engineer
The ideal candidate will produce positive business results for the Company and its partners. The individual must be experienced in planning, managing, and coordinating the activities associated with Design and Construction projects for various types of facilities and multiple partners.
This candidate will be experienced in all methods of design, construction, scheduling, budgeting, subcontract agreements, procurement, buy out/award, reporting, and all associated documentation (Subcontractor Identification, Bid Tabulation, Bid Clarification, Project Management systems, etc.). This person must be process oriented, adhering to established protocols, procedures, and processes.
This person must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, and within a team environment, collaborating both with Senior Leadership and Direct Leaders. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and enjoy the challenges of managing multiple projects.
Interacting with Team Members, architects, and subcontractors (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, and sometimes under pressure, is an important part of this role. For this reason, the candidate’s ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, is crucial. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making abilities, and attention to detail are equally important.
Encompass Requires
· Experience in spreadsheets/Excel, creating formulas and workbooks
· Proficiency in job cost forecasting and providing financial updates to company executives on the status of each project
· Solid history of managing commercial development or construction projects, and delivering the same on schedule and within budget.
Encompass Prefers
· Experience in Commercial Construction
· Experience in Project Management, Design and Construction environments
· Experience in managing or assisting in the management of construction managers/superintendents for a developer or general contractor
· Demonstrated experience in accountability for the success of a project, both from a schedule and financial perspective.
Project Engineer Will
· Assist in developing the project estimate and initial project schedule. The project budget is to be reviewed with Chief Operations Officer prior to final submission to the Owner. The project schedule is to be reviewed with the Vice President of Construction
· Assist in preparing any required responses to RFP and/or presentations
· Conduct pre-bid conferences as required
· Be involved with the issuance of bid packages, scope review meetings, and contractor selection
· Convert the project estimate into the project budget and provide to the Accounting Team for input into Timberline
· Work alongside the Construction Manager in a team environment to ensure our partners’ project/Company’s goals and objectives are met
· Develop, manage, and maintain a buyout log (buyout of the project is to occur in a timely manner); all packages are to be bought on the front end of the project
· Work with the Administrative and Accounting Teams to ensure all contracts, insurance, bonds, etc. are submitted and fully executed prior to Contractor mobilization onsite
· Develop, manage, and maintain a submittal log to ensure all required submittals are submitted in a timely manner as not to delay the project (the Project Engineer may perform the day-to-day management of submittals, if one is assigned to the designated project)
· Work with the Procurement Team in developing/defining the FFE items for the project
· Monitor and forecast project cost including all Owner and Contractor Change Orders
· Work with the Construction Manager with the development, updating, and tracking of the overall project schedule
· Issue all contracts, Purchase Orders, and Change Orders (Owner and Contractor/Vendor) in timely manner
· Provide an updated Timberline budget to Accounting on a monthly basis (with all cost projections)
· Provide financial updates to the Senior Leadership Team on the status of each project
· Utilize Procore for all project correspondence, tracking, and documentation purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, submittals, RFI’s, Contracts/Purchase Orders/Change Orders, Action Item Lists, Schedules, Meeting Agenda/Minutes, and Closeout
· Review Procore to ensure Daily Logs and Progress Photos are updated regularly
· Be responsible for the day-to-day management and activities of their project(s)
· Effectively interact and communicate with the President/CEO, COO, Vice Presidents, Construction Managers, Procurement Team Members, and support staff with the status of their project(s)
· Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, following through on issues in a timely manner
· Assist the Accounting Group with reconciliation between Procore and Timberline records and maintaining insurance certificates in compliance with subcontracts.
· This position requires a high level of travel capabilities. When not on-site at various projects, this team member will be in-office at our LaGrange, KY Field Support Office.
