Stengel Hill is looking for a skilled Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the construction phase of projects, coordinating between architectural teams, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent project management skills, and the ability to bridge the gap between design intent and construction execution.
POSITION OVERVIEW
- Manage projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring compliance with design specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Travels and/or works remotely from construction sites or project locales.
- Collaborate with the Project Managers and Project Architects to monitor the project construction schedule, ensuring adherence to timelines, and conduct regular visits to construction sites for oversight and compliance.
- Monitor and document any discrepancies from the contract documents, codes, and standards. Ensure resolution of issues by following up with all relevant parties until a satisfactory conclusion is reached.
- Assist the design team by researching solutions, providing information, implementing revisions, documenting constructed conditions, and conveying the intended design concepts.
- Prepare and issue drawings, sketches, details, specifications, schedules, addenda, bulletins, and other cortical documents as needed.
- Negotiate an acceptable resolution to contract changes and claims, and processing for management approval.
- Develop written field reports and complete project punch lists.
- Perform on-site observations of the progress and quality of the work to determine if it is being performed in a manner conforming to the contract documents.
- Communicate construction progress back to design team.
- Assist with management of all project submittals and track review process through the office to insure timely response/return to the contractor. This includes review of submittals, appropriate to knowledge of project requirements, and timely return.
- Manage all RFI’s and track process through the office to insure timely response/return to the contractor. This includes review of RFI response, prior to return, to ensure response is appropriate and complete.
- Review and/or assemble project closeout documents including as-built, product, and equipment manuals, warranties, and contractor contact information.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred or;
- 10 years of related experience without a degree is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, preferably with experience in healthcare facility projects.
- Familiarity with healthcare design principles and operational needs.
- Thorough knowledge of estimating, project management and construction management
- Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
- Fluency in Project Management Software (Bluebeam preferred)
- Proficiency in construction management software (AAC, Procore, ECOMM, etc.)
- Fluency in Microsoft Office
- Fundamental knowledge of building systems, building codes and regulations
- Understanding of all phases of construction including permitting, mobilization, foundation, structure, interiors, systems, and site.
