- Position: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Surgery
- Salary Range: $61,008 - $74,088. We offer competitive compensation that aligns with NIH Guidelines and takes grant funding into account. The salary offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience. This is a temporary Training position (3-5 years). After 5 years, position will be reviewed/moved. Grant Budgeting considerations
- Location: Evanston, IL
- Full Time/Part Time: Full Time, onsite
- Hours: Monday - Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm
- Required Travel: None
- Under minimal administrative direction, fellow will direct functions of complex surgical research including managing clinical data, preparing abstracts, manuscripts, presentations
- Develop advanced study objectives, study design, submit, implement, and review all aspects of research protocols
- Collaborate with principal investigator and other investigators as needed to develop protocols and review data collected to generate publications and presentations relevant to the area of study
- Participate in surgical research meetings and journal club meetings to discuss, present, analyze, and integrate feedback for personal as well as colleague projects
- Ensure all equipment required for research is functional and supplies available to perform complex research studies
- Using excellent communication skills, work collaboratively, communicate, and support all research staff and laboratory personnel as well as supervise and train new personnel as needed
- May be required to use high fidelity surgical simulators in the training and quality improvement of health care providers.
- Education: Doctoral Degree (MD or PhD in related field)
- Experience: Experience performing and contributing to in academic research throughout one’s graduate studies.
- Skills: Medical training and knowledge of and experience with surgical procedures, extensive knowledge of current medical and scientific literature and research findings in related research areas, knowledge of computer technology related to surgery and ability to adapt to new technology, ability to prepare and author scientific manuscripts for juried publication, ability to develop proposals to assist in securing external research funding, ability to solve technical and inter-laboratory problems related to research, capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect experiment or report of results and of taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel
