Position Summary
The Manager, Consumer Insights will be the internal voice of the consumer for the categories he/she manages. This role will partner with members of Global Marketing, located in both the US and International markets to help generate consumer and shopper insights that can be translated into the development of brand strategy, communications, marketing activation and new product ideas. Additionally, this position will be involved in supporting research for the Commercial organization, Category Teams, R&D, and others as required.
This position requires the experience being able to manage and work with external research partners on large scale studies, plus have the experience to independently manage all aspects of custom adhoc research internally.
Responsibilities
- Translate global and area strategic initiatives into appropriate research
- Manage key research projects like Brand Health, Advertising Research, Marketing Mix, etc. conducted with external research partners
- Able to manage the entire research lifecycle for studies conducted inhouse including translating raw business questions into research objectives, writing surveys, analyzing data, pulling together objective recommendations, and creating PPT reports.
- Be able to pull together learnings from Primary, Secondary, and Syndicated data sources and tell a cohesive consumer story
- Proactively finds and shares consumer trends impacting our business and categories
- Build and maintain working relationships and channels of communication with Business partners to ensure delivery of appropriate consumer-based learning
- Critical Thinking – ability to analyze consumer behavior and responses, understand and articulate the impact to the business, and anticipate potential actions
- Collaboration – ability to work across departments and functions, offering support and service with a positive attitude
- Flexibility – meet challenges of changing business requirements and continue to implement appropriate research on time and on budget
What we are looking for
- 4-year degree required; MMR or MBA in Marketing Sciences/ Consumer Research preferred
- 6 years of marketing research/consumer insights experience including a combination of consumer and syndicated (scanning & panel) research
- Ideally, 3 years of experience in consumer-packaged goods research
- A combination of client and supplier side research experience preferred
- A solid understanding and/or experience in various qualitative and quantitative research approaches
- Hands on experience managing the entire research life cycle
- Willingness to roll-up the sleeves where needed and take care of any aspect of the research life cycle
- Ability to translate business needs into research questions and identify appropriate research approaches to address those needs
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis and ability to translate data into action-oriented insights
- Ability to proactively gather data/information on general consumer trends and effectively communicate potential impact to the business, strategy, and brands
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize projects and deliver on commitments in a fast-paced environment
- A passion for consumer research, have the voice of the consumer top of mind, and passionate about delivering objective results to help answer/solve business questions
- Experience with a survey programming tool
- Experience working with and managing research vendors
- Experience working on brand tracking studies, Marketing Mix Analysis
- Experience or familiarity with advanced analytic research techniques
