Summary:

The Materials Management Specialist position is responsible for working with internal clients to identify scrap and surplus material that is eligible for sale/disposal.  Following policies and procedures they are responsible for divesting this material and obtaining the best value for the money.  The position also provides backup support for Materials Management and Warehouse Management as needed, including, but not limited to, running reports, posting inventory transactions, assist with miscellaneous Materials Management projects as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather necessary information to determine the overall strategy for disposal of asset
  • Coordinate with Project Manager, Field Contact, Warehouseman, Plant Supervisor, etc. to capture every detail needed to divest their asset
  • Communicate with Fixed Assets Departments regarding the sales of company owned assets to track down book values and ensure proceeds are properly recorded
  • Research current market value of assets being divested
  • Facilitate which divestiture method to use for the type of asset being sold
  • Coordinate with third parties to initiate and manage sales of assets
  • Generate and manage bills of sale associated with the sales of assets, scrap and surplus materials.
  • Obtain proper approvals on all Bills of Sale documents
  • Building strong internal and external relationship
  • Quarterly reporting of all investment recovery activity within the department.
  • Upload documents into the FileNet document management system

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 2-5 years of related experience, preferred
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Sense of urgency
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and handle changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of energy industry related materials, specifically natural gas, NGL and/or crude system

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Associate Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
