EnergyUnited is hiring a Manager of IT Infrastructure to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT systems, networks, hardware, and telecommunications infrastructure. This role ensures reliability, security, and scalability while managing a high-performing technical team.
What Would You Do?
Technical Leadership & Infrastructure Management
- Lead fiber, infrastructure, and telecom projects, ensuring alignment with budget, timelines, and IT goals.
- Define system requirements and communicate them to technical teams.
- Administer the IT budget in coordination with IT leadership.
- Quote and manage contracts while following internal processes.
- Lead discovery and planning for infrastructure-related projects.
- Define project schedules, track progress, and report updates to leadership.
- Maintain WAN reliability at 99.99%.
- Monitor tech trends, patch releases, and system updates to ensure compliance and system health.
- Stay informed on hardware advancements to keep infrastructure current and secure.
Team Management & Collaboration
- Assign and prioritize tasks to keep the team organized, engaged, and productive.
- Balance team workload, prioritize urgent tasks, and maintain smooth operations.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing technical team.
- Set expectations, provide feedback, and recognize strong performance.
- Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and a safe, collaborative environment.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to ensure system reliability and support.
- Serve as a liaison between IT and business units to build strong relationships.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and invest in team development.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Support cybersecurity compliance (PCI, CIS Top 18, NRECA Top 20).
- Maintain a secure environment responsive to cyber threats and regulations.
- Enforce software licensing and copyright compliance.
- Define and improve IT operational processes and procedures.
Documentation, Vendor & End-User Support
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts, and communicate changes to leadership and staff.
- Engage vendors to inform hardware purchasing decisions.
- Ensure documentation and procedures are in place for reliability and user experience.
- Prepare internal reports and documentation as needed.
- Support end-user computing with tools, hardware, training, and consulting.

What Do You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of IT experience, including enterprise network management.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and collaborating with business units.
- Strong technical background with:
- Firewalls, routers/switches, telecom, physical/virtual servers
- Microsoft client/server OS, Active Directory, MS SQL Server
- Security tools, LAN/WAN, and Microsoft environments
- Preferred certifications: Microsoft, CCNA/CCNP, PMP, or similar.
- Ability to be on-site for system upgrades and critical projects.
- Valid NC driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours.
- Primarily office-based, with some travel to other sites as needed.
- Hybrid position: work is split between home and EnergyUnited offices.
- Must reside within EnergyUnited’s 19-county service area or within 40 road miles of any EnergyUnited office.
