Job Description
The successful candidate will have a strong background in tooling and plastic injection molding, with experience working with hot runner systems, electrical troubleshooting, and high-cavitation molding. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing all bench, machine, and finishing operations to alter and condition complex plastic injection molding dies and fixtures. You will work from special instructions to improve mold designs and performance, monitor mold functionality, inspect work, and ensure quality standards.
You will operate all Tool Room machines and perform advanced machine setups, troubleshoot and repair hot runner systems in high-cavitation molding, perform machine troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. Additionally, you will train and mentor Toolmakers, Machinists, and Technicians, including new hires, safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs all bench, machine, and finishing operations to alter and condition complex plastic injection molding dies and fixtures
- Works from special instructions to improve mold designs and performance
- Monitors mold functionality, inspects work, and ensures quality standards
- Operates all Tool Room machines and performs advanced machine setups
- Troubleshoots and repairs hot runner systems in high-cavitation molding
- Performs machine troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs
- Trains and mentors Toolmakers, Machinists, and Technicians, including new hires
- Safely operates forklifts and overhead cranes
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in the tooling trade and plastic injection molding
- Strong expertise in hot runner systems, electrical troubleshooting, and high-cavitation molding
- Experience with bi-injection and stack tooling
- State-indentured apprenticeship or equivalent technical knowledge
- Forklift certification (training provided)
- Ability to perform welding, soldering, and brazing operations
