What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Compliance Specialist- Entry Level position at ENSAFE?
EnSafe Inc., is searching for a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Compliance Specialist to add to our compliance team providing multi-media environmental compliance support to our clients locally, regionally, and nationally.
EnSafe Environmental Compliance teams are involved in evaluating the compliance status of industrial facilities, quantifying environmental liabilities and risks, and assessing properties for real estate transactions. EnSafe is committed to providing pragmatic, cost-effective strategies for maintaining compliance, minimizing liabilities, and improving environmental performance
Compliance Specialist responsibilities:
- Performing environmental inspections at client facilities
- Development and revision of various U.S. EPA and/or State required regulatory written programs (spill prevention control and countermeasure plans, stormwater management plans, groundwater protection plans, waste minimization plans, etc.)
- Completing annual Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know act reports (e.g., Tier 2, Form R)
- Documenting and reporting air emissions
- Environmental regulatory research
- Complete environmental permit applications for various media such as wastewater, stormwater, and air emissions
- Environmental sample collection, monitoring, and reporting (e.g., hazardous waste characterization sampling, stormwater sampling, wastewater sampling)
- Perform Method 9 Visual Emissions readings
Compliance Specialist requirements
- BS or BA in Environmental, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or Equivalent Sciences
- 1-2 years’ experience, internships count towards experience
- Effective written/verbal communication, presentation, and organization/analytical skills; experience writing detailed technical reports and plans.
- Strong organizational and time management skills while working on multiple projects for multiple clients. Candidates must be detail-oriented, assertive, and exhibit good listening and note-taking skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, particularly Microsoft Excel with its functions and formulas
- Regular travel to client locations (local and regional) with occasional national travel possible. Some travel will be overnight and may be for extended periods. Candidates must be willing and able to work independently with little to no oversight in select circumstances.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including rain and heat
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs as well as work at higher evaluations such as building rooftops and tank farms.
- Valid Driver’s license required

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and diversified environment
