Purpose of the position
The Program Coordinator will provide case management services for program participants in EO’s Workforce Innovation initiatives. The Coordinator provides services that create expanded learning opportunities for students and lead them to discover meaningful career opportunities. The Coordinator will focus on workforce development in the healthcare sector, connecting historically marginalized communities to high-quality, family-sustaining jobs, while improving critically needed healthcare infrastructure in the region, fostering long-term economic stability and growth.
Essential functions
- Serve as technical support specialist for Workforce Innovation initiatives
- Provide onsite support and monitoring, as required
- Work closely with Director to facilitate grant work plans, complete project reports, coordinate efforts and initiatives
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the project and how it fits into the portfolio of EO grants and projects
- Serve as a community ambassador for EO by way of demonstrating exceptional citizenship and acting as a community liaison between EO and the employee’s local community. Coordinators actively engage in the community to spread awareness of the mission of EO and to provide local contact
- Maintain record-keeping in multiple systems and formats to track all required data points for program participants
- Attend quarterly advisory council meetings in collaboration with the Director
- Attend professional development related to, and maintain appropriate certifications for project implementation
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local schools and businesses to offer a network of career exploration and development including Site tours of local employers, in-classroom demonstrations, and learning opportunities

Work environment
This position is based in the Abingdon, Virginia office with at least 50% of the time spent in the field in Lee, Scott, Wise, Dickenson, Buchanan, and Russell counties and the city of Norton.
Physical demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to drive for an extended period of time.
Position type and expected hours of work
Employee should be able to work core hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional meetings, events, and possible emergencies outside of core hours.
Travel required
The ideal candidate will reside in the EO service area and be available to attend early morning, evening, and/or weekend meetings and should be able to travel independently where needed.
Certificates, licenses, registrations required
- Valid driver's license and automobile insurance
- Reliable high-speed home internet.
Required education and experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher from accredited four-year college or university
