What we are looking for:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to bring their A game to help us save the world, one package at a time! Working as part of the finance team this position will reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures. A successful Senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
What you will do:
- Prepare and post journal entries for the monthly accounting close
- Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and regular management reports
- Support and mentor accounting staff
- Maintain the Fixed Asset and associated Depreciation schedules ensuring they reconcile to the General Ledger. Enter and post new assets to Fixed Asset accounting program
- Prepare annual business property tax returns, business license, and other government documents
- Update and maintain office/warehouse and equipment lease contracts
- Work with overseas EPE companies occasionally
- Prepare and analyze account reconciliations, making recommendations to ensure Balance Sheet is current
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and petty cash reconciliations
- Prepare Sales/Use Tax returns monthly with quarterly true ups
- Prepare the commissions reconciliations
- Review the payments of big customers
- Work with CPA to prepare the corporate tax returns including estimated tax payments
- Assist with financial and tax audits
- Coordinate special accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
- Support and comply with all company policies and safety requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred
- 3-5 years of general accounting work with NetSuite or similar ERP system in Manufacturing industry
- Expert knowledge of accounting principles and a working knowledge of US GAAP
- Ability to leverage technology for efficient data gathering and analysis
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks
- Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookup and pivot tables
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Assurance experience with compilations, reviews, and audits
