We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide student assistance for students 3 to 21 years of age under the professional guidance and supervision of Special Education Teachers. Special Education Paraprofessionals work in district schools and in some cases alternative settings per the student's individual education program either individually or in small groups by providing basic instruction in abilities and skills developmentally appropriate to the student(s).
Responsibilities
●Assist special educators and classroom teachers in the implementation of IEPs (Individual Education Plans) in both the regular education and special education settings. This may include individual (1-1) or small group support.
●Use instructional strategies and techniques to facilitate the inclusion of individuals with learning needs.
●Respect and maintain confidentiality.
●Collaborate with special education teachers and related service providers around individual student goals, accommodations, and progress. This includes areas such as fine motor, sensory regulation, communication, gross motor, personal care, executive functioning, social/behavioral, transition, and life skills.
●Collect and submit data needed for Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEP goals.
●Complete weekly service documentation (including Medicaid to Schools, if applicable).
●Carry out assessment activities to collect and document objective information about the students' strengths and needs.
●Assist teachers with developing, evaluating, and updating student IEPs.
●Participate in scheduled professional development and training sessions.
●Other duties as assigned by administration.
Qualifications
●Minimum of a high school diploma and paraprofessional certification through the New Hampshire Department of Education (OR ability to obtain NH licensure).
●Experience working in schools or with children.
●Basic knowledge of special education and best teaching practices.
●Strong communication and collaboration skills.
●Demonstrate an understanding of classroom and behavior management strategies
●Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
