This class completes daily operational tasks, provides customer service to the public, and performs other Library functions in person, by email, and/or by phone interactions.
This position requires evening and weekend hours.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Performs administrative support functions by responding to telephone, e-mail, written, and in-person inquiries from the public, departments within the Agency, and/or other interested parties; provides answers and information requiring knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; and collects funds and issues receipts
Receives applications for service; determines eligibility and assessment; adjusts bills; receives fees and payments; issues library cards to authorize initiation of service.
Posts information to records; checks and corrects records; establishes and maintains alphabetical, numerical, or subject matter shelves and displays; compiles and organizes information for reports and forms
Initiates, processes, prepares, records, and/or reviews routine paperwork, forms, reports, and/or confidential information related to assigned area of responsibility, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information; maintains related electronic records
Works with library classes, events, and programs; assists in setup/teardown of tables and chairs for events
May lead programs in absence of the event organizer instructor; may lead programs if in an area of expertise i.e., craft, skill building, storytelling
Performs other duties as assigned
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and one year of experience in handling customers; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid identification card from state of residence

Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes
Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, volunteers, contract labor, interns, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
Specialized terminology, procedures, policies, and practices in assigned area of responsibility
Monitoring activities in assigned area of responsibility
Routine bookkeeping principles and practices

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. May walk, push, stand and lift 50% of the time.
