Custodial Support Specialist
(NonExempt)
The Custodial Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized office environment. Key responsibilities include thorough cleaning and sanitation of restrooms and common areas, waste management, and minor facility support. The Specialist assists with event setup and breakdown, and arranging furniture. This role also involves monitoring supply inventory and addressing custodial needs that arise. Strong attention to detail, customer service, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this position.
Restroom Cleaning and Maintenance
- Clean and sanitize urinals, toilets, mirrors, sinks, and shelves in men’s and women’s restrooms.
- Empty trash, reline trash cans with extra liners and replenish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, urinal cakes, and feminine products as needed.
- Wipe down bathroom doors, handles, and stall doors.
- Mop restroom floors to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
General Cleaning and Facility Support
- Clean office door handles, push plates, and front entrance door frames, handles, and windows.
- Vacuum the entrance area, meeting rooms, and office spaces as needed.
- Spot shampoo carpets in high-traffic areas and stains as necessary.
- Empty trash from meeting rooms, kitchens, and hospitality spaces, adding extra liners to each trash can.
- Remove empty boxes from the dock area.
- Sweep, dust-mop, and mop all tiled surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms, back halls, and meeting rooms, removing scuffs as needed.
Monthly Rotational Duties
- Clean and sanitize table tops, chairs, and whiteboards.
- Deep clean trash cans (inside and outside) as needed.
- Wipe down bathroom doors, stall doors, hand bars, and toilet paper holders.
- Thoroughly vacuum and dust office and meeting spaces.
- Spot shampoo carpets in designated areas.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events, including arranging furniture
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, restroom items, and event-related materials, and report replenishment needs to management.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization throughout all spaces, paying special attention to high-traffic areas.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with staff, visitors, and event attendees.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety guidelines, and cleaning protocols.
- Flexibility to adjust schedule based on event demands or urgent facility needs.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions as required.
Knowledge
- Understanding of custodial practices, cleaning techniques, and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and handling of cleaning supplies.
- Basic knowledge of event setup, including furniture arrangement.
Abilities
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet daily and event-related needs.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines accurately.

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, such as moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping throughout the shift.
- Ability to climb ladders and step stools to reach high areas for cleaning or maintenance tasks.
- Dexterity to operate custodial and maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor mops.
- Visual acuity to ensure cleanliness and perform minor repairs.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as wiping surfaces, vacuuming, and mopping floors.
