Job Summary
The International Student Representative coordinates admissions services for international students. Ensures high quality evaluation of foreign academic credentials; learns and applies federal regulations pertaining to the reporting of international students. Functions as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Responsible Officer to issue visa documents and handles admission-related immigration issues for current and prospective students.
Under the Director of the Enrollment Services / Registrar or designee, the International Student Representative is responsible for managing the admissions process for prospective international students, including evaluating foreign academic credentials, guiding them through the application process, addressing immigration concerns, and coordinating with relevant campus departments to ensure a smooth transition for new international students Supervisory Role Oral and written instructions are received from the Director of the Enrollment Services / Registrar, or designee. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Collects and reviews documents submitted for admissions (e.g. application, test scores, foreign and domestic educational transcripts, health insurance documents and foreign and domestic bank documents as well as verifications from US sponsors including employment verifications and Affidavits of Support).
2. Coordinates international admissions services. Reviews and updates admissions forms and letters.
3. Participates in planning and implementing international student orientation activities.
4. Manage inquiries from prospective international students and provide detailed information about admissions requirements, academic programs and campus life. Guide students who are not in F1 status who wish to be full-time international students.
5. Collects and analyzes complex data and information regarding international admissions for college departments as well as partner institutions, scholarship agencies, study abroad agencies and international organizations.
6. Oversee the maintenance of the international admissions records. Tracks statistics gather data and create reports.
7. Monitors compliance with government regulations ensuring a high standard of cooperation with FERPA and Department of Homeland Security regulations with respect to admissions practices.
8. Collaborate with staff and outside agencies in resolving complex prospective student issues relating to admission and all pre-arrival issues (e.g. VISA complications, payment of SEVIS fees, etc.). 9. Build relationships with educational agents and counselors in key international markets.
10. Assist with immigration-related issues that may arise during the student’s time at the college

- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong understanding of international student admissions requirements and visa regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, families, and international partners
