WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This position is responsible for all HR-related activities within the site(s) of coverage. Daily activities include benefits administration, local and regional recruiting initiatives, personnel relationships, workforce development, payroll and compensation oversight, HR compliance, and fostering and growing the workplace culture through Core Values established by the organization.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Partner with regional leadership to understand business goals, operational challenges, and organizational needs to develop and implement HR strategies that support the growth of the business.
- Act as a trusted advisor to regional leadership on people-related matters including talent management, succession planning, employee performance, and workforce planning.
- Analyze business performance, turnover trends, and employee engagement to proactively address HR challenges and opportunities.
- Provide leadership coaching on managing performance, building team effectiveness, and fostering a productive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
- Lead the recruitment efforts for entry-level, skilled laborers, and some leadership roles across the assigned sites/markets, ensuring talent acquisition strategies meet the needs of regional construction projects.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to define job requirements, candidate profiles, and recruitment strategies, and oversee the full recruitment cycle (sourcing, interviewing, hiring).
- Support onboarding of new employees and ensure smooth integration into the company culture, policies, and safety protocols.
- Implement workforce planning and retention strategies to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet project timelines and organizational needs.
- Foster positive employee relations and resolve employee concerns in a timely and effective manner.
- Act as the point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and performance-related matters.
- Conduct investigations and provide support on employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Communicate effectively with field employees, managers, and senior leaders to ensure alignment on organizational priorities and key HR initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as industry-specific regulations, including OSHA standards and construction labor unions (if applicable).
- Stay informed on relevant labor regulations, wage and hour laws, workers' compensation, and safety requirements in the construction industry.
- Collaborate with safety teams to ensure safety training programs are consistently rolled out and maintained for all employees.
- Manage and track safety incident reports, investigations, and workers' compensation claims to ensure compliance and mitigation of future risks.
- Drive the performance management process for employees, including goal setting, feedback, evaluations, and development plans.
- Support the design and execution of leadership development programs for both field and office employees, focused on building the skills necessary for career advancement and succession.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers and supervisors to improve performance and develop their leadership capabilities.
- Collaborate with managers to address performance issues and create tailored performance improvement plans where necessary.
- Work with the Compensation and Benefits teams to ensure competitive and equitable compensation practices that align with market trends and the company’s financial goals.
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, in collaboration with payroll teams, and address any payroll discrepancies or concerns.
- Communicate benefits programs clearly to employees, ensuring they are fully informed about health, retirement, and other benefit offerings.
- Analyze compensation data to ensure compensation structures are competitive and aligned with industry standards.
- Promote a positive organizational culture that supports employee engagement, collaboration, and company values.
- Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, including surveys, focus groups, and action plans based on feedback.
- Actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization and ensure programs are in place to support these values.
- Organize and promote employee recognition and wellness programs to build morale and retention.
- Use HR metrics and analytics to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including turnover, engagement, hiring, training, and safety.
- Regularly present HR data and trends to senior leadership and advise on actionable strategies based on findings.
- Prepare and present reports related to HR compliance, talent management, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with business goals.
WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or management is preferred, but prior relevant experience in the field may be substituted in the absence of a degree.
- At least 5 years’ prior experience in a similar role directly supporting HR, payroll, recruiting, talent management, or other HR-related initiatives is required.
- Prior experience in a construction, manufacturing, or other industrial industry is preferred.
- HR Certification is preferred but not required (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.).

WHAT TO EXPECT
- This position normally works in an office environment with typical office interactions.
- In addition to normal indoor work, some outdoor work could be required to support the organization and satellite offices/locations.
- May be required to stand, sit, bend, twist, and reach as part of the job.
- Extended periods of standing on your feet may be required.
- May be required to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, or other job-related pre-hire screenings related to the job.
- Some overnight travel (up to 50%) could be required as part of this role to support the different geographic locations.
