Everett High School Summer Credit Recovery Teachers


POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Everett High School’s in-person summer School serves students who
need to recover course credit. Students will participate in 23 days of summer school
programming to make up their work and obtain the required credits for graduation. The schedule
for each day will include five classes, each one hour in length, from 8 AM to 12 PM. We are
looking for certified teachers who specialize in one or more subject areas to provide high-
intensity instruction during the summer school program, inclusive of all learners.


The primary goal of our programming is to provide:

 

  • An opportunity to maintain and/or recover any lost learning from the previous school year.
  • Coursework that embeds experiential learning, Social Emotional Learning, hands-on project-based activities, revision of content area concepts and innovative use of technology.
  • An enriching learning experience that utilizes local partnerships and communityvresources.
  • Developmental opportunities that support linguistic growth, academic advancement, self-awareness, and skill acquisition.
  • The Summer Enrichment Academy for Learning teaching staff reports to the site coordinator, who work directly with school-based and district-level administration.


Working Times:

 

  • 23 Days of summer school (July 1–3 and July 7–August 1, 2025)
  • Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
  • 30 additional hours for lesson planning, grading, and curriculum development
  • Required training dates June 17 and June 18th 8 AM-3:00 PM (Dates tentative based on last day of school)


REMUNERATION:

 

$40/hour total stipend up to a total maximum stipend of $6000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Plan and facilitate lessons for in-person learning that are aligned with Massachusetts State Standards for Math, ELA, History or Science.
  • Teach five academic classes, each one hour in length.
  • Implement specific literacy-based strategies identified for summer school and participate in coaching opportunities to strengthen the implementation of the strategies.
  • Use all available technology and virtual curricula, specifically the course HQIM provided by the district, to create engaging lessons and supports linked with 21st Century skills.
  • Manage classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions.
  • Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self-confidence, team-building, and informed decision-making.
  • Utilize inclusive practices that support students with disabilities and English language learners.
  • Implement SEI strategies that support the language acquisition of English Learners.
  • Incorporate language activities into daily lessons that align with WIDA Language
  • Proficiency Standards into content instruction, including speaking, listening, reading, and Writing.
  • Report daily attendance to the Site Coordinator and/or Manager of Extended Learning and contact students and families attending inconsistently.
  • Communicate with families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations,
  • Contribute to school-wide Summer School initiatives and events, which may be assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Summer School Site Coordinator.


Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Related Field
  • Massachusetts Teaching Licensure at the secondary level in ELA, Math, Science, History, ESL, or related fields
  • SEI Endorsement Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Education
  • 3 or more years of elementary, middle school and/or high school teaching experience
  • Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language Experience working in an urban public schools setting
  • Coursework in Phonics Instruction and/or Applied Linguistics
  • Foreign Language Proficiency
