Description
The Everett Public School February Title I Acceleration Academy provides structured academic
and enrichment activities for students in grades K-8 during the February vacation week.
Students will receive small-group support and instruction on grade-level topics in ELA and Math,
as well as participate in enrichment activities in the areas of music, art, sports, outdoor
exploration, and more. The program will be free and held at the Devens, Parlin, Madeline
English, Keverian, Whittier, Webster, and Lafayette from 8 am-12:30 pm.
Working Times:
Tuesday, February 18th - Friday, February 21st, 8 am - 12:30 pm
Remuneration:
$40/hour for 18 hours of instructional time and 10 hours of prep/outreach time. Attend a two
hour orientation meeting prior to the beginning of the program. Total maximum stipend:
$1,200.00
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? Plan and facilitate lessons for in person learning that are aligned with DESE Standards
in ELA and math.
? Use best practices in ELA and math curriculum that encourages higher order thinking,
critical thinking, and collaboration.
? Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create
engaging lessons and supports that are linked with 21st Century skills.
? Manage classroom behavior with strategies that motivate students, support an inclusive
learning community, and empower students to participate actively and appropriately in
all program activities
? Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self
confidence, team-building and informed decision making.
? Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for English Learners.
? Incorporate language activities into content instruction including Speaking, Reading and
Writing that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency. .
? Communicate with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive
strategies that promote two-way conversations.
? Report daily attendance to the Manager of Extended Learning and reach out to students
and families who are attending inconsistently.
? Support the recruitment of students to join your class, support families with online
registration and ensure equitable outreach to families.
Requirements:
? Current EPS teacher in grades K-8
? Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts
Preferred Qualifications:
? Master’s Degree in Education
? 3 or more years of elementary or middle school teaching experience
? Dual Licensure in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language
? Coursework in Phonics Instruction and/or Applied Linguistics
? Foreign Language Proficiency
