Title: Network Construction Engineer
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:
Design & Cost Estimating
- Working directly with sales to provide detailed pre-sale cost estimates to include overall design for existing and new customer accounts and opportunities.
- Performing desktop quotes from satellite imagery to determine the most optimal fiber routes and costing for customer laterals and internal backbone
- Developing an accurate bill of material (BOM) package to include cost estimates, outside and in-building fiber routes (primarily in 3GIS or Google Earth formats)
Administrative
- Salesforce: Update opportunities, quotes, estimates and projects assigned with all relevant information to include building requirements, cost, dates and notes
- Direct communication via Teams chat, email and phone with sales and customers in the carrier, enterprise, partner and wholesale divisions.
Requirements:
- 2 years designing, planning, and estimating pre-sales and building out of carrier-grade metro fiber networks through route design, selection, construction and deployment
- Intermediate hands-on knowledge of fiber construction methods and splicing
- Previous experience using inside/outside plant topology software such as ESRI 3GIS or Google Earth desktop software
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suites to include Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Bellcore/Telcordia standards, construction and utility rules and regulations
- Strong Knowledge of NESC standards in relation to OSP construction
- Current Fiber Optic (FOT) or BICSI Certifications (Installation and Testing) and Low voltage license
- Intermediate to expert knowledge of CWDM, DWDM, PON, SONET, ATM, and Ethernet architecture, operation, and hardware
- 1 years procuring Federal, State, or Local permits and Private Right of Way/Use agreements to support Fiber Optic Network construction activities
- 1 years using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and Shapefile based systems to manage the design of Wide Area, Metro, and In-Building based fiber networks and related structural components
- 1 years installing/troubleshooting Fiber Optic and Ethernet physical transport in a service provider environment; specifically, in an Outside Plant capacity while managing all aerial and underground construction components
