Role Overview: Lead Hardware Engineer
EVident Battery is seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer to drive hardware development from R&D to production. This high-impact role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership and project management. You’ll oversee the full hardware lifecycle, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver cutting-edge EV battery diagnostic solutions.
This high-impact role requires a deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and project management capabilities —ideal for an entrepreneurial engineer ready to lead both the vision and execution of next-gen EV battery inspection hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead the end-to-end design, prototyping, testing, and iteration of integrated hardware systems including mechanical, electrical, and robotic components.
- Team Management: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing hardware engineering team. Set clear goals, delegate effectively, and provide regular technical feedback.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software and management teams to ensure hardware-generated data supports advanced analytics. Maintain clear documentation and data pipelines.
- Product Ownership: Oversee the selection and qualification of materials and components. Manage vendor relationships, manufacturing workflows (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting), and ensure timely delivery of high-quality hardware.
- Innovation & Analysis: Advance EV battery diagnostics through hands-on experimentation, FEA simulations, and physical testing focused on vibration and structural analysis.
- Project Management: Own hardware development timelines and budgets. Track key milestones and align engineering efforts with company goals.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge in engineering mechanics, vibration analysis, structural/materials testing, and robotics systems.
- Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent), FEA tools (Ansys, Abaqus), and Software coding (Python or equivalent) for modeling, analysis, and automation.
- Proven ability to manage complex hardware projects from concept through deployment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to align engineering and business stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and documentation practices to support reproducibility and cross-functional alignment.
Preferred Background:
- At least 3-year full-time experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- Experience with EV battery systems or battery diagnostics.
- Prior experience managing and scaling engineering teams.
Education:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Compensation:
